Fundraising Strategy 2026–2029: Overview

St David’s Children Society’s Fundraising Strategy 2026–2029 sets out how we will bring new charitable investment into Wales to strengthen support for care‑experienced children, young people and families. Rooted in our vision of a Wales where every child grows up in a safe and loving family, the strategy outlines how external funding will help us enhance services, drive innovation and respond to increasingly complex needs.

Care‑experienced children often face long‑term challenges linked to trauma, loss and adverse childhood experiences. As understanding of these needs grows, so does the demand for coordinated, trauma‑informed and adoption‑aware support across education, health and social care. Our strategy positions St David’s to play a leading role in meeting these needs by securing funding that adds value beyond statutory provision.

A key driver of the strategy is our commitment, as a Welsh charity, to bring new funding into Wales. Over the next three years we will focus on developing innovative services, addressing gaps in support, and contributing to sector‑wide developments that improve outcomes for children and families.

The strategy outlines three core fundraising approaches, trust and grant funding, corporate and philanthropic partnerships, and community fundraising, each designed to build sustainable income streams and strengthen engagement. Priority funding areas include adoption, fostering, kinship care, emotional and physical health, neurodiversity, education, speech and language, and employment skills.

Through this work, St David’s aims to design and deliver impactful services, pilot new models of support, and scale successful projects. Ultimately, the strategy seeks to ensure children, young people and families across Wales receive timely, high‑quality and accessible support when they need it most.
